Silver in the Light
I'm a bedroom musician, I've written my whole album between these four walls. I record ambient samples around London, bring them home and turn them in to drum beats or samples. I use a midi keyboard to build up melodies and when my housemates go out I'll quickly run upstairs and record the vocals. I don’t use pre-written drum loops and I try to record my own samples as much as possible, partly because I’m always trying to create a unique sound but also because I’m a bit of a control freak with my music and I want to be able to edit every individual drum sound or note. I don’t think I’ve ever written a song with a traditional structure, I never write methodically, I still can’t figure out if this is a good or bad thing! I wrote this album alone but I managed to rope my other half in to recording the male vocals, my sister Grace designed the album artwork and this website, my friend Demelza uploaded it for me another friend Tim Webster mixed a few of the tracks. This album is the product of 4 years hard work, so many endless hours staring at my computer screen tweaking sounds.. but I've loved working on it, you forget all about your tough day at work, your mind is just focused on finding the right sound. When I'm not writing music I'm exploring as far and as frequently as our funds allow, attempting to teach primary school children, making things, eating good food, playing xbox or reading a good book/comic.
